I think Alex is on painkillers... This is his blog entry from today, and is rather incoherent. But I think I have the gist of his message in my poor translation...

Me he torcido el tobillo ayer,lo tengo venddo, peroetoyvivo.quemal escribe esto, dios. maƱan ruedo lassecuencias desexo entreelijah y leonor...Esperoquetodo vy bien.

My very poor translation...
I am ecribiendo since one of those you plot horrible of the airport, of that that put me cutro euro and they leave you to write some seconds.now mism lame the avion for London. I have twisted me the ankle yesterday, I have it venddo, but I am alive.that badly writes this, God. tomorrow we film the sequences of sex between Elijah and Leonor. I hope everything goes well.

As I said, with the incredible run-ons in his typing today, I think poor Alex must be on painkillers because of his ankle. I had to guess at where to separate the words for the translation, and still can't get it right. Honestly, I didn't even try with some of it. But I do feel confident of the last two sentences. :-)

If I were an actress & had to do a sex scene for a movie, I can hardly imagine anything more inhibiting than having someone I knew watching me -- my SO in particular. It would probably make me feel all kind of guilty & unfaithful! ;-) I've never previously heard of actors' partners being around when sex scenes are being filmed in movies -- have you?

Well, I haven't seen Bobby yet, but I'm sure I read somewhere that the EW/LL sex scene in that movie was cut because of "lack of chemistry". Though I may be mistaken of course ...

~Lyra
From: [identity profile] westmoon.livejournal.com
Really? Because there's excellent chemistry in the kiss (which then fades to black).
From: [identity profile] verangel.livejournal.com
Oh, I agree I thought it was really good. I wanted more darnit...maybe more was cut for a reason but what I saw was chemistry.
:)
From: [identity profile] maddeningpadme.livejournal.com
chemistry in the Bobby kiss? I don't really agree. but i didn't think those 2 had chemistry to begin with.

I love your icon! can you post a link to that shoot? or whatever you have, the pic? I'd like to see the whole shoot if it's aruond somewhere. not sure I've ever seen it, thanks! :D
From: [identity profile] westmoon.livejournal.com
I'd have to see the movie again to comment on the cnemistry in their other scenes together (though I'd argue it was better after the marriage ceremony) but I thought the kiss itself was hot. :)

I got the icon from someone years and years ago, but I believe the picture comes from this shoot:

I agree that I think it is not realistic to bring a girlfriend to a filming like this. It does seem inhibiting. I imagine it is up to the director. But, I know the Pam was there for the "scene" in Bobby.

yes the sex scenes have got to be the hardest. or of the hardest. it's crazy. it's not just if your SO is there, cuz there are TONS of crew ppl that will be there. sometimes in certain cases, if the actor(s) are really really uncomfy, they might try to exit all the ppl that do not absolutely need to be there, to lessen the nerves of the actors but of course that can't always happen.
yes, sometimes actors' partners are present when the actor is filming a sex scene, it does happen. after all there have been many films made over the decades lol. does it happen often? probably not. most ppl can't take watching that kind of thing, even if it's just a kiss or something small. and then there are some ppl who want to watch to make sure their partner doesn't try to pull anything lmao. but yes it does happen occasionally.
I don't think I could be able to do a sex scene, or at least not for a long time. I can barely stand to kiss another actor, let alone do a sex scene. it's something I have to learn to get over.

Yes, I think I've read interviews with the partners of actors who said they couldn't bring themselves to watch their partner's sex scenes. As for "pulling", I did read once that when Julie Christie & Donald Sutherland were filming their famous sex scene in Don't Look Now it was the real deal! ;-D

I can barely stand to kiss another actor

What if it was Elijah??? I'm sure you'd get over your inhibitions pretty quickly! :-)

I think Diane Lane (i think) & Richard Gere had s/th like that too! they did a film eons ago where they had a sex scene & they kinda got into it lmao & when the director yelled cut, they kept going at it! they wouldn't stop right then. it was so hilarious when they were talkin bout it. they were both so embarrassed. ai yi yi. they weren't dating at the time tho, i don't think. just got too hot & heavy i guess lmao. i have to wonder sometimes how many of hollywood's sex scenes are close to or even, the real thing. & if some of them, the actors do the scene, & then rush into their trailers together to do the real thing! ahhhhh lol

if it were Elijah, first I think I'd die lol. really it prob would make it all that much harder for me, cuz you know, i'm in love w/him & all.... lol :p i just got cast in a show w/a fellow actor who I had a slight crush on a while back, so it's pretty weird! plus he can be quite an ass (which is what made me get over him, heh) sometimes so it's even harder. we play lovers. he dies. i die. it's all very dramatic. :P thank God we don't have to kiss or any ish!

i LOVE that sam/froho icon! :D

Hehe, I didn't know about that ... but it sure sounds fun!

It's an interesting point. I mean, if you find your movie "opposite number" attractive, then you're probably going to get all turned on even if it starts out just pretend. I guess it's much harder(?!) for a guy in that position because it's so much more visible! ;-D

So you're an actress! And who knows, one day you might get cast with Elijah & be *forced* to kiss him! ;-)

OMG, dramatic indeed! Well, I wish you luck with it all, and let us know what happens with the "crush" guy.

i LOVE that sam/froho icon! :D

Thanks! :-) It was made for me by [livejournal.com profile] melandry who's something of an icon queen!

What's an SO? That's the second time I've seen it written in LJ but last time I asked what it was the person didn't answer. Please can you tell me what it means??

OK I just worked out what SO means! *duh* Actually I think if it were me I would prefer to have the SO there. I would feel MORE guilty and unfaithful if they weren't. That way the SO can see that it's all just business as usual and see how clinical it all is - what with the camera and sound boom in your face and a dozen smelly crew members standing by. Otherwise you could have a conversation like "Honey, how did filming go today?" "Oh you know.." "No I DON'T know -TELL ME, Mr Sex Scene Actor-Boy!!" LOLOL! I guess if that's the way an actor prefers it then I'm sure a director will go with whatever makes it easier for the actor to get the best performance so to speak.

Maybe one day when you & I are famous movie stars, we can swap notes about our sex scenes, hey?!

"see how clinical it all is - what with the camera and sound boom in your face and a dozen smelly crew members standing by"

^ that's exactly what I was meaning. and --- some of them crew ppl, perverted even! lmao. I did some small crew work for a tiny tiny tiny film a couple mon ago & the actors had this romantic scene walking outside, right. you have the director, the first AD, the cinematographer, the camera op, the dude holding the boom mic, etc etc all around these 2 ppl trying to be all romantic lol. and in the background us PA's on standby. and this is just for a tiny-arse film! imagine what it'd be like for a big-ass film. i don't see how any actor could *really* enjoy doing a sex scene w/so many ppl around. it'd just make me even more tense than I already was.

Oh that's cool that you got that experience. Whenever I see "behind-the-scenes" stuff on making films it never ceases to amaze me how actors ever manage to perform at all. Although it's a totally different and perhaps much scarier acting environment I imagine it's much easier for stage actors to immerse themselves in a part than it is for screen actors.

not necessarily. i totally know what you're saying but i guess it depends on the actor in particular. it may seem like it'd be easier for stage actors but that really depends on your dedication, how focused you can be, how well you can tune out other stuff. if you're a screen actor, you just have to research & be as in character as possible & not let anything else take you out of the zone, so to speak. same w/stage actors. i think w/screen actors tho, it might be easier sometimes for your focus to drift tho, for stupid reasons, like being transfixed by the Kraft services table lmao :P i def wouldn't say it's much easier for stage actors but i can understand why that would be the assumption. I've mostly only done stage shows but it can be darn hard to concentrate sometimes, for sure. esp. when things go wrong. mad mad flailing! lol
