Just a gentle reminder that the rules of our community prohibit: 'speculation about relationships or sexual orientation'. Some comments in recent days might be seen to have broken that rule just a bit.

It's only natural that we're curious when we see our beloved Elijah with a new lady on his arm. Who is she? What is her relationship to the man we all love and admire? it's hard not to discuss these things. Hard for you, hard for ME! But let's try to remember that we'll have the answer to such questions when Elijah sees fit to reveal them.

I'm very proud of this community and its commitment to demonstrating complete respect for Elijah and for his choices. Every single member here has bent over backwards to always show that respect, and I want to thank each and every one of you.

Thank you for your continued support.

Love to all....

... from the mods.

It came to our attention that our friend [profile] bonnie_las posted a comment on [livejournal.com profile] elijah_finds which mentioned Elijah Central and which was subsequently deleted.

Users have the ability to delete any comment from their own posts, but I felt it was important to tell all of you that while the [livejournal.com profile] elijah_finds  mods would discourage posts which engage in lengthy conversations about our fellow Elijah community (that's not why we're here, after all), we would certainly not delete a post for casually mentioning them. We have different philosophies regarding how an Elijah com should be run, and that's fine. Many of our users belong to both communities, and that's also fine. No lack of Elijah love.

Enjoy your day and the recent inflow of Elijah beauty!!!

It will not surprise anyone who knows me at all when I tell you that my interests have drastically changed, and I no longer follow news about Elijah the way that I once did.

Some time ago, I put the running of the comm in [livejournal.com profile] rakshi's capable hands, and she and [livejournal.com profile] chickenlegs_11 have been and will continue to be in charge of maintaining and moderating it. My name will remain on the list of maintainers, at least for now, but it's strictly for consultation purposes for the people who are the real maintainers of this community.

Anyway. That's really all I wanted to say, except that it's been fun! I still keep an eye on what Mr. Wood is up to, mostly because old habits die hard, but my heart is elsewhere these days.

Take care, and keep having fun!

With thanks to [livejournal.com profile] primula_baggins and [livejournal.com profile] perfect_duet for the heads up!!

A General Warning
Apparently there is a bit of nasty Malware Virus spreading through the social networking sites...including LiveJournal (of course). It targets communities, generating a mod-ish looking post informing the membership that the community is being closed, and then deletes all the community's entries. The post includes a couple of links which, when clicked, will infect the clickee, compromising their personal info as well as their f-list.

So...please be aware that there is no intention of closing [livejournal.com profile] elijah_finds. If you see such a post, do NOT click any of the internal links. Please do report the post to LJ Abuse or LJ Support by clicking the red flag icon or the "flag" link, depending upon your viewing option. Please also email us to let us know we've been hit. That would be very much appreciated.

The maintainers have noticed that some comments over recent weeks have come very close to or indeed have crossed the line in terms of the rules.  We would really appreciate it if everyone would take the time to re-read the rules and try to bear them in mind when commenting or posting. This is in the interests of maintaining a friendly atmosphere at the community and showing respect for Elijah and his choices.

Remember that any member who disregards the rules can warned and with enough warnings can be banned from the community.

Just wanted to let you know that [livejournal.com profile] rakshi and [livejournal.com profile] chickenlegs_11 have generously offered to help me with the maintenance of this community. We are all somewhat limited in our time, but maybe between the three of us we can keep things running smoothly!

So, we'll all be keeping an eye on things when we can manage it, and feel free to contact any or all of us with questions or concerns.

Carry on!

...and really, really inexperienced at banning people.

In trying to take away commenting privileges from the few I was trying to ban, I accidentally removed them from membership (you can check to see if this is directed at you by checking the community userinfo page to see if you're still listed under "members"). This was completely unintentional -- I just didn't understand the difference between "banning" and "removing," and how to do the former without doing the latter. So, instead of revoking commenting ability, I took away membership, and it was not my intent.

I am all in favor of second chances, and if those of you who have been banned would like your membership reinstated (though you still won't be able to comment under your username), just request membership and I'll take care of the rest.

Sorry about that.

The goal of this community is to give people the tools and knowledge they need to seek out images and news about Elijah Wood, and to provide a place for them to post those items to share with the rest of the community. It is not and never has been a place to debate any aspect of his personal life. There are other and more appropriate forums for that.

Having a negative opinion is not against the rules. Making an occasional negative comment isn't even against the rules (as long as it's politely put). However, stating that negative opinion at every possible opportunity, over and over again and in a negative fashion, and seeking (whether intentional or not) to provoke reactions and arguments from others is against the rules.

If you can't see the harm being done to the community by such behavior, and its potential for ruining a pretty darn good thing that we've got here, then I'm sorry, but you don't belong here. If your comments, by their nature or tone, are making those who are contributing content to the comm either want to delete their entries or not post at all, then they are not welcome here. Fair or unfair, I can't allow anything that is interfering with the goal of the community; if there is something that is making people wary of posting their "finds" here, then the community can't succeed and I need to try to find a way to repair it so that it can.

The rules are there for a reason. You may not like them, but if you can't follow them, then you can't be a part of this community.

I know there are those of you out there with opinions that differ from the majority of people here, and I appreciate that you have been taking them elsewhere to discuss them rather than putting them here where they are likely to spark conflict. I know it's hard to hold them in check, and it isn't fair to you, but thank you from the bottom of my heart for following the rules in order to keep the community running as smoothly as possible.

It really is impossible to be fair to everyone, without either disallowing comments entirely or letting them run rampant, and I believe both of those options would ultimately harm the community. All I can really do is try to keep the disruptive elements to a minimum, and I'm taking steps toward that end. A few people have been banned from commenting (membership hasn't been removed -- yet*), and a few others are on probation. I'm sorry that it's come to this, but there you are.

* Turns out I did accidentally remove you from membership (I think -- I'm new at this), and I have no way of reinstating you on my own. If you would like to request membership again, I will add you back in. Terribly sorry about that!
