Could Elijah be dating someone new???

According to this celeb dating website, since 2005 Elijah has been dating someone by name of Gemma Rogers. They don't have much info on her, except that she's from the UK. Sadly I don't have time to do lots of sleuthing but, from the brief search I carried out, there doesn't seem to be any particular Gemma Rogers leaping out from the screen.
Perhaps it's the model featured on this portfolio website here? If so, she's very pretty, isn't she?

It also says that he dated Bijou Phillips, which we know to be wrong -- so much for credibility.
I seem to recall she denied they had ever been involved.

I don't know whether you recall an entry from a couple of months back, when the full pics from which I got my icon here were posted up? The photos were old ones from a party in NZ, and Elijah was holding the hand of a woman virtually no-one recognised. Someone spoke up to say they thought her name was Jan Something-or-other, that she was an assistant of PJ's, and that she & Elijah may have dated for a while.
Now I don't recall you speaking up about the "relationship speculation" that was involved in that particular post. But I have noticed in the past that you don't often comment on my posts, or if you do it seems to be a mention of me having broken the rules somehow.
Some people have mentioned Emma Forest. Does that count as speculation too?
I thought it would be amusing to point out the existence of that site & the "info" they have there as current info about Elijah is pretty thin on the ground. But, all told, I get the feeling that my presence isn't very welcome here.
I'll just wait until you've seen & acknowledged my comment then I'll delete it. If my presence is not welcome here then I won't visit the comm again. Being spoken to like some kind of dissident fourth-former who's broken the rules & might get put in detention doesn't constitute any kind of enjoyment for me in any case, so effectively it's a two-way thing.

As for the differences between what has gone before - I can discuss it if you wish but again as I'm not a moderator you may not wish to hear it. As far as I'm personally concerned, as a reader, if there's photographic evidence and or some kind of comment/interview or something from one or other of the persons involved then its not speculation. The speculation about Emma Forrest was not made on this comm but in newspapers etc and she denied it herself. Commenters here were merely reporting that.
In this case there is neither. The site has pulled it from fresh air, it seems, and for all we know, if its updated by readers, it could be the kind of trick friends play on someone for a birthday.
Not quite sure why you are getting upset about this though.

It isn't about whether there's any entitlement to make the comment -- it's about the fact that it sounds rather patronising!

??? If you think this means I'm upset, you should see me when I *really* get going! I'm here in this fandom to have fun & enjoy myself, so after a brief comeback I'm just returning to my former cynicism about the state of Elijah's fandom & how it's more or less impossible to post anything about him without it causing some kind of furore.
I would think that bunnie throwing the rule book at me, and you wading in with your response here (which was far longer than my original post!) is much more of an indication of other people getting upset, as opposed to me. I'm far from being the only one to think that the atmosphere in Elijah's fandom these days is very off-putting, and this little episode has just served to reinforce that opinion.

I know the entry, but I must have missed most of the relationship speculation (I simply can't track every entry, and I didn't expect anything untoward from that one). Still, I have to admit that I'm not as bothered about discussion of relationships that are as much as seven years in the past.
That's really beside the point here, though: the difference is that the purpose of that entry was to share pics with people. I'm not surprised that people speculated about who she was, but it seems unlikely to me that it's something that the author of the post caused intentionally. It seems to me that your entry was posted with the intention of sparking discussion and speculation about his current relationships, and that is what I see as being against the rules. If that was not your intention, I apologize for thinking so, but it does appear that way to me and to those who responded to it with the expected discussion and speculation.
I'm sorry if you felt patronized, but I also fail to see how a simple reminder of one of the rules constitutes either that or as having the rule book thrown at you. And I did say that the entry could stay -- it seemed harmless enough, and there is certainly no need to delete it now, either.
I'm sorry that this makes you feel unwelcome, but please put yourself in my shoes for a moment... I made the rule because I don't want this particular comm to turn into a place where people are comfortable gossiping about any and all aspects of Elijah's personal life. I think it's inevitable that it occasionally turns up in comments, and like I said, I can't track them all and don't necessarily feel inclined to reprimand every single person who makes such a slip (if I did, I think people would learn to stop commenting at all, and pretty quickly). But, when an entry is made that seems to be inviting such discussion, I need to say something before folks start to think that it's acceptable. I hope you can understand that.

When I first saw what was on that website, I was 99% certain it was just a big mistake or a prank -- I found it amusing & thought others would. That was reinforced by returning to the site & noting that it can be updated by readers. That probably means that any fan could go along there & put their own name & photo up there, just for a lark! I thought it was amusing but perhaps some wouldn't? I didn't regard it as "serious speculation".
It does often seem, though, as if all the rules are geared towards protecting the idea of the Elijah/Pam relationship, and I'm just wondering what would happen if some reasonably reliable gossip website reported next week that they had broken up. Would that be a "banned topic" too? Would everyone who had seen that news item need to carry on as usual & pretend they hadn't seen it?

It's not that I'm trying to protect the relationship; it's more that I don't want to encourage gossip and speculation about his personal life. If it becomes a fact (which would require corroboration of some sort, I suppose), then I don't have a problem with it anymore -- unless people then start theorizing as to why they broke up... ARGH. I would really just rather all such discussion took place elsewhere! Nothing but trouble could come of posting that sort of news in a comm like this. I'll always be very fond of Elijah because he played Frodo, but although my interest in him might wax & wane from time to time, and I might harbour my own preferences about who I would/would not like him to be with, it doesn't make any real difference to me & my life as to who he is or is not with, and why, or even if he is dating no-one at all. He's still Elijah & that's what counts for me.
Nothing but trouble could come of posting that sort of news in a comm like this. I can smell it from here! :D I guess I will just have to cross that bridge when I come to it. And in that respect, it will be much easier on me if they never break up! Hee!
Well, maybe you'll need to batten down the hatches if/when that happens! ;-D Perhaps it's just that most of the people posting at the comm are of a certain mindset. A while back I found something in an old comm about becoming a shipper. Part of it says:
Step 10: Should your chosen celeb split from their other half - be devastated! Always want them to get back together, carry on with your icons, spams and squeeing. All this MUST continue until your chosen celeb starts another relationship. When this happens, begin this process all over again.
Step 11 is "die of old age"! :-O
It can't hurt to get a little perspective, can it?
