All of you who've read the fantastic reports by [livejournal.com profile] frolijah_fan_54 and [livejournal.com profile] honeyandvinegar already know the Williamstown Film Festival went very well. But I thought you might like to see what the producer said about it:

Hey there,

I had an absolutely wonderful time at the Williamstown Film Festival. It's a beautiful New England college town, and the festival was a blast. The screening was very well attended and the moderated Q & A felt like it could've gone on for hours had the moderator not adjourned us to the bar next door!

Speaking of the bar next door, I had a great time chatting with some avid A&F/LJ participants. A very fun night overall! Off to Savannah!!

I thought I read a comment somewhere that [livejournal.com profile] frodos_smile was going to go to the Savannah Film Festival. That's the only one I can recall seeing talking about going to that one.

Oh, I'm glad you emailed him. This gives me the courage to also send him a quick "thank you" for the time he spent with us, and of course the wonderful film.

I'm sure he'll appreciate it - I wanted to wish him luck with all 3 of his films in Santa Monica this week.

And he certainly deserves the best of luck!

You know, I was noticing that night that in his generosity of time with us and his being so easy and fun to talk with, he was reminding me of that delightful guy we'd just seen on the big screen. No wonder they get along so well!

It looks like the Elwood Contingent has impressed him quite favorably!

Thanks from me also. I'm glad he had a good time at the festival -- his kindness and his wonderful film certainly did that for us!

And I'm looking forward to posting it! This afternoon was the first chance I've had to work on it, and I've been frantically climbing the "my-first-ever-real-LJ-entry (not-counting-comments-in-elijah_finds)" learning curve. Nothing like Mount Doom, fortunately. :-)

I joined LJ several months back but hadn't actually done anything with my LJ page, my profile, or any of that. (I'm sure that the page doesn't have to look perfect for me to post there, but I'd like it to look less like an unfurnished room!)

I know how to do web pages but I'm a total newbie with blogging. I just couldn't imagine what I might write about. Then suddenly -- thanks to you! -- I found myself going to my very first film festival, meeting lovely Elijah fans, talking with a movie producer about his fine work ...well, to quote Bilbo, "You step into the Road, and ... there is no knowing where you might be swept off to."

For example, the Berkshires in Western Mass. to see Day Zero!

Thank you for the encouragement! I'm sure that soon this will all seem easy. No one of the specific tasks is really difficult, it's just that I'm having to learn them all at once. (And edit the photos I took and figure out how to upload them and try to find out how many I *can* upload with just a basic account, or maybe I should just put them on photobucket or flickr or something but I've never done *that* either, and I need to make (and upload) a userpic because I'm tired of just seeing that blue stripe with no pretty picture next to my name (and btw yours -- Toronto Film Festival, yes? -- is soooo pretty :-) ), and of course I have to WRITE the report too.) But it's all fun so I really can't complain!

Fortunately it doesn't seem to be necessary to know HTML to use LJ. It just helps to realize that if I once figured out HTML, I can do the same with LJ. Also, I remind myself that less than a year ago I really wouldn't have recognized Elijah by name or face (except, slightly, as Frodo), and now I can glance at a headshot icon and ID the source from the edge of a grey tshirt and the fluff of soft pretty hair. :-D

So that's something else I've learned (though of course now it seems obvious :-) ) -- people can't comment in one's journal unless one has actually posted something there. I.e. as in "reply at your LJ". Reply. D'OH.

Replying here before email to tell you that I *now have my first LJ entry up* !!! Not the trip report yet, but the promise of one very soon. Also a bunch of comments about my how-do-I-do-this questions, since I will appreciate comments and suggestions from anyone who happens to stop by. Wanted to tell you first though. :-) Next FF54 and H&V, right away.

I've learned one other thing since I posted Entry #1 a half hour or so ago: I *do* have a Plus Account. However, I signed up originally for a Basic. No idea how that got changed. However-further, I'll probably leave it that way.

Happy to discuss all this further in email, of course. To include some on-topic Elijah here: I *have* seen the trilogy, on TNT cable last December/January. (That was the trigger, the catalyst.) And on the big screen in April, when a theatre in Rhode Island had a 12-hour marathon. WOW. And I've been making up for lost time in old-DVD and -videotape collecting, plus visiting all the LOTR and Elijah sites I can find online.

And how ABOUT that gorgeous and enormous photo Bunnie included in her elijah_finds 1st-anniversary post! My first official THUD.

Thanks so much for posting Yeux, it's great to hear from our folks & now the filmmaker's POV. The way Tony's going, he's going to have a whole new fan base.
