Got this in an alert. Have no idea of it's authenticity.
Keen to capitalise on the success of these films (not to mention the fact that they seem to be a magnet for Oscar success), Hollywood bosses are buying the rights to biographies of rock’s most notorious hellraisers and licensing the back catalogues of the artists with choices for the leading roles ranging from the inspired to the bizarre. Currently in production, are projects based on the lives of Debbie Harry (Kirsten Dunst), Jimi Hendrix (Outkast’s Andre 3000), Janis Joplin (Zooey Deschanel), Stevie Nicks (Lindsay Lohan) and Iggy Pop (Elijah Wood).

Date: 2007-09-20 02:02 am (UTC)Sorry. This is an incredibly sore spot with me. It's insulting, to say the least. Blasphemous to music as a whole. Ok, I'm gonna stop...
AND Kirsten Dunst has no business playing Debbie Harry. Who was high when that rumor started? I know I've heard it before.

'ray' (ray charles)
'what's love got to do with it' (tina turner)
'coal miner's daughter' (loretta lynn)
'dreamgirls' (based on the supremes)
'amadeus' (mozart)
'the pianist' (don't know his name, but a real person)
even 'yankee doodle dandy' and 'the sound of music' are based on a musical person or group.
this is why i know elijah will be great as iggy. he's a great actor and the man has commitment. these movies are more than just song and dance. a story has to be told, and the writing is as key as the performance. iggy himself said he loved the script.
it has to be intriguing and even though one may think the life of mozart would be a borefest, the way in which their life is presented, it certainly could be interesting. they became famous for some reason right?
