Got this in an alert. Have no idea of it's authenticity.

Keen to capitalise on the success of these films (not to mention the fact that they seem to be a magnet for Oscar success), Hollywood bosses are buying the rights to biographies of rock’s most notorious hellraisers and licensing the back catalogues of the artists with choices for the leading roles ranging from the inspired to the bizarre. Currently in production, are projects based on the lives of Debbie Harry (Kirsten Dunst), Jimi Hendrix (Outkast’s Andre 3000), Janis Joplin (Zooey Deschanel), Stevie Nicks (Lindsay Lohan) and Iggy Pop (Elijah Wood).

I'm gonne say little authenticity right off. And NOT because of Elijah, but (my archenemy) Lindsay Lohan). She WANTS to play Stevie Nicks, and a few months ago Stevie addressed that...several times...repeatedly. To quote her most succinct answer "Hell, no" Also, "She doesn't know anything about my life." Plus, Lohan wants Jared Leto to play Fleetwood Mac guitarist and former boyfiend Lindsey Buckingham. NOT HAPPENING.

Sorry. This is an incredibly sore spot with me. It's insulting, to say the least. Blasphemous to music as a whole. Ok, I'm gonna stop...

AND Kirsten Dunst has no business playing Debbie Harry. Who was high when that rumor started? I know I've heard it before.

I'd heard about Zoey playing Janis and Elijah playing Iggy, but the others are new to me. I definitely agree with your thoughts on the casting of the others.

Exactly! And although Kirsten could theoretically pull it off in look, I doubt she could in talent...

Only Brittney could make the list more repulsive (for the Nicks portrayal). I kind of want Elijah to play Iggy.

LOL....I thought the same thing, but was reluctant to say so because I think there are still a few Britney fans around. I hope you don't get attacked for being truthful. *wink*

I've not heard of the rest of whose on that list except Elijah playing Iggy.
And I definately can't imagine Lindsay Lohan singing, Edge of Seventeen. Eeek! But if it is true, I hope she does it really well. BUT NO! please, NO BRITNEY! ;-/

Look it up on YouTube. Lindsay had the nerve to do a cover of 'Edge of Seventeen' on the album "A Little More Personal". (She also does a Cheap Trick cover, so how is this album a little more personal when you're doing someone else's songs?) And she sang it live at some award show. She's off-key and HORRIBLE

thanks for the article belle. they're 100% correct. biopics...especially music biopics are a HUGE favorite of the academy for winning oscars.

'walk the line' (johnny cash)
'ray' (ray charles)
'what's love got to do with it' (tina turner)
'coal miner's daughter' (loretta lynn)
'dreamgirls' (based on the supremes)
'amadeus' (mozart)
'the pianist' (don't know his name, but a real person)

even 'yankee doodle dandy' and 'the sound of music' are based on a musical person or group.

this is why i know elijah will be great as iggy. he's a great actor and the man has commitment. these movies are more than just song and dance. a story has to be told, and the writing is as key as the performance. iggy himself said he loved the script.

it has to be intriguing and even though one may think the life of mozart would be a borefest, the way in which their life is presented, it certainly could be interesting. they became famous for some reason right?

i love mozart too. i had to. i played some while taking piano lessons. and the movie is brilliant!

imdbpro lists this as "in development." it was in "new listings" for a long time, now it's moved up. the next step would be "in production."
