'Open Windows' is a classic thriller made in first person, in real time and in multiple formats.

Same Maniac POV? I'm afraid will see one bit of Elijah in screen again.

MADRID, 2 Nov. (IRIN) -

The filmmaker Nacho Vigalondo has started shooting his new film, the suspense thriller 'Open Windows', starring actor Elijah Wood ("The Lord of the Rings'). This is his third feature (the first in English) that rolls in Madrid.

'Open Windows' is a classic thriller made in first person, in real time and in multiple formats. From the computer to the big screen. Vigalondo began developing the film three years ago with Apaches Entertainment, who are the producers from 'Alien' and his own production company, Sayaka.

According to the director, 'Open Windows' "is a thriller that takes place in real time." "The action will continue through the screen of a laptop connected to the Internet, an approach that has touched everyone from the beginning. Something like this means going beyond the concept of films like 'Paranormal Activity', 'Cloverfield' or 'Chronicle'. Instead of simulating a home video camera we will use the screen of a desktop computer. way around the familiar language of an average user becomes the tool with which the story unfolds, "says

So, in the new creation of Vigalondo, "the cinema screen becomes a computer screen, and the viewer becomes the protagonist of this great adventure."

A UNIQUE PERSPECTIVE

Elijah Wood confesses Vigalondo wanted to work with from the first time I saw 'Timecrimes' "and his incredible short". "We met at the Austin Film Festival as he approached with his project, truly one of the most exciting and unique films with which I have ever met. I jumped at the opportunity to be part of it," he confesses.

In this film, the actress who accompanies Wood is Sasha Grey, who surprised the audience with his participation in "The Girlfriend Experience" by Steven Soderberg. The actress says that the Spanish filmmaker working within the classical genres "tells the stories from a unique perspective, and with the right amount of absurdity".

"Her character, Jill Goddard, is a successful actress, one of the bad girls of her generation struggling against all odds to become a stronger woman, more independent. Has been a great challenge to discover the journey of Jill the hand of a very visual director Nacho and together as fellow cast about as talented, "he says.

The triangle is completed by British actor Neil Maskell, star of 'Kill List' from Ben Wheatley and CHROD who plays the vicious villain of this thriller. The artist considers the concept of 'Open Windows' "original and daring" and believes that truly represents "a violation of cinematic conventions." "None of this has been seen or tried before. Chords I play with, a dangerous manipulator masked guide the hero into a terrible fate," he adds.

To Vigalondo, there is a simple way to describe the plot: "In this story of characters ranging from objects to be manipulated by taking charge of their own lives, the public can experience the journey in reverse, when you realize who have been victims of handling much more than I ever would have suspected. "

To carry out this film project have been accurate 12 different types of cameras (webcam, camera head, tablets, phones, 3D camera mapping, security, traffic, satellite ....) and has been specifically developed software designed to coordinate the windows on the screen.

Vigalondo has been nominated for an Oscar in the category of Best Short Film with '7: 35 am '(2003). His first feature was 'Timecrimes' which toured festivals like Sundance in 2007, Austin, New York, Philadelphia, Trieste, Tokyo and for which he won nine international awards. His next film 'Alien' (2011) won two awards at the Austin Fantastic Festival and was released theatrically in the U.S..
