While you're waiting for fireworks, or simply trying to get through your workday, here's a little bit of casting speculation to titillate your brain:

Elijah cast as the lead in Madman, the film? The pertinent information is under "Possible cast" (strangely enough). I know very little about this particular comic, but I'm already all for it.

Unfortunately, the IMDb information is only available on IMDbPro. I'll bet it doesn't list the cast yet, anyway. The film could be in perpetual limbo, for all we know. Still, it's fun to think about!

Well, that's cool if it's true. Although, I have no idea what Madman is about! I guess this would be another movie where we only hear his voice. *sigh*

I wish we'd get some real movies with him in it. I'm tired of waiting!!!!

No, I'm pretty sure it would be live action, because they're talking about filming it digitally, in much the same manner as Sin City.

I feel the same way. Right now, we don't even know of anything that he's due to be working on. The Iggy thing is on hold, and we've not heard of him being cast in anything else. :/

Thanks! It sounds interesting, doesn't it? And vaguely familiar... I'm wondering now if I might have heard this rumor before, and forgot about it, or whether I just read a description of the comic somewhere, because I seem to remember this part: Frank was a hitman who was killed in a car accident, then stitched back together and brought to life by a pair of mad scientists.

Could be fun!

With Robert Rodriguez and George Huang involved, it certainly lends credence to the rumours, even without the "under 30 years old, biggest film in 2003" tease.

I forgot to point out in the entry that George Huang was the one who filmed Elijah's audition for LOTR. His inclusion as director makes this seem like a very promising possibility.

hey! i've been seeing things about this flick in my variety alerts, but never read them. i do have IMDbPro, but they say nothing of a cast.

i would think with robert rodriguez and george haung being involved, elijah would love to hook back up with them again. and these guys work fast, so the iggy film wouldn't be threatened. just speculating too.

i would love for this to be true, and i can't help but think back to when the rumors were going around about elijah being the lead in "mort the dead teenager." but wasn't that linked to tim burton?

I don't remember that it was a Tim Burton project, but you might be right.

It may never come to be, it's true. But with his connections to Rodriguez and Huang, it seems more promising than Mort ever did.

I've been keeping an eye on this one. I don't think it is in limbo. The announcement that George Huang was going to direct was only in Dec last year which isn't that long ago. Also, I think there was something out at the time that they don't have that long before they lose the rights so they are trying to get a move on (or it could lapse completely). However, Mike Allred (the comic book writer) posted the following on his messageboard a couple of weeks ago (in response to a question about open auditions for film parts):

"Shooting has yet to begin. It's unlikely there will be any open auditioning. If there are any extra opportunities, it would only be for a couple crowd scenes. I'll post here if those opportunities open up."

Which implies that they are definitely working on it , although doesn't necessarily mean that they will get to the point of shooting.

Isn't this old news???
I remember already reading about this a year or two ago and since that day the wikipedia page has never been updated which is why I thought that they wouldn't do the movie anymore...

So, is there some definite sign that they are going to do the movie soon or are we still only talking about that wikipedia page? Because, I have never heard Elijah talk about this, even though some of his friends are involved and his casting as the lead seems very credible...

I do believe that it is old news. As I was telling someone above, when I first looked at it, I thought it was new to me, but the more I looked at it the more familiar it sounded.

The last time the Wikipedia page was updated to add new information it was in February, and it was to add the IMDb link, which I think is be new. And according to a comment above, the author of the comic makes it sound like things are still moving ahead.
