Top Ten Cannabals: #1 Kevin - Sin City.

Photobucket

In the history of terrifying motherf*ckers, who'd a thunk that Elijah Wood would have a place at the top of the list. But he does. His portrayal of Kevin in Sin City is one of the most eerie things I've ever seen. Not only is he brutal and cold in life, but in death he manages to be even scarier, smiling away as he's eaten by dogs. We are talking significant soul damage captured perfectly on film.

That's amazing, what an honor! This is one of the EW films I've never seen because I didn't want to pay the money to see him for a few minutes. I'll have to buy this now.

add it to your list of elijah's must sees. what this reviewer says is true. creepy doesn't begin to describe his performance. even though lij isn't in it much, i found the entire film fascinating. the style is wonderful!

amazon.com has really inexpensive used copies available from their market sellers. Or if you have Netflix, you could get it from them so you could see Elijah's part and not have to buy the DVD. The bonus material shows Elijah learning to do wire work (his first time) for this movie. Fun to see.

I am definitely not into commic book characters, but I liked all three stories in this movie.

Yes they do, I frequently order DVD's and books from Amazon. Thanks for the suggestion.

I agree completely...Kevin is one of the most frighteningly cold villains I've ever seen.

And Elijah's performance, well...yeah perfect or Kevin wouldn't have been so eerie. What I found amazing but not surprising was that he conveyed the evil sick Kevin so well without a single line....I hated the film in general but I love his performance simply because it was so against type and so very well done, he really should explore playing the bad guy more often...it is so unexpected coming from him.

Great! It just shows his versatility and talent. On the one hand he can star as Frodo in 3 incredibly successful films, portraying innocence and incorruptibility. On the other, he can portray a silent psychopathic killer convincingly in another v successful film. Impressive.

Fantastic news!!! Thanks so much for sharing :-)

This shows how amazingly talented Elijah is as an actor, being able to portray so much without any lines and so different from what he'd done before. We need to see *more*!

I wouldn't want to be anywhere near Hannibal, either, but at least he makes some noise! With Kevin, one second you're alone, the next second, he just appears, silent and deadly! *shiver* That's what creeped me out so much about him, and why I couldn't walk into a room without turning a light on and looking round for the next couple of days at least after watching Lij as Kevin. Totally deserving of the #1 honor in this case, imo.

And I so totally don't have an appropriate icon... :-/

I really must watch Kevin again as it's ages since I've seen Sin City. I'll have to wait though as I haven't got a copy. My son and I share it and he's got it!

Hehe. Considering that I haven't seen all that many cannibals in movies (in fact, none that I can recall), I guess I'll have to agree!

And I think, Elijah wanted to reveal his many talents. It worked. I don't think he is a "chzracter" actor.

I liked Sin City a lot. I wished Elijah's role had been bigger, but what there was of it was perfect(ly creepy!).

I really had to psyche myself up to watch this after everything I'd heard, and as I usually steer clear of horror films - but of course, being Lij, I just had to. I've only seen Elijah's part and although it really creeped me out it was definitely a perfect demonstration of his versatility as an actor - he was brilliant:)

I've never been able to bring myself to watch this movie and I've only seen a few snippets of Elijah's role in it. I will watch it one day. I even found some of the photos on that site you linked quite disturbing. I guess I'm the only wuss round here! :(

Thanks Belle. He certainly made his mark with this film. I've seen his character rated in another top 10 lists too. I remember one where they described Kevin as the "Anti-Frodo" which I thought was very witty!

WOW. To beat out Hannibal is a pretty darn big deal! But yeah, that death scene is just beyond creepy (as is his disembodied head hitting the dirty priest's desk, but that's a squick for another day). I like the idea of "significant soul damage" and Elijah's ability to display that without ever uttering a word. Nice find! Thanks for the link.
