Hot off the presses -- Day Zero will be screening on September 23rd as the official closing night film of the American Film Festival in Moscow. This is the first festival of American independent films to be held in Russia.

Does anyone know of an Elijah fan/LJer in Moscow? The only Russian I've encountered on line was a woman selling Russian magazines that contained articles and photos of Elijah during the LOTR days. I think she was in Leningrad.

I hope there will be some more festival showings here and in Europe.

I sure hope to see the film! You might ask [livejournal.com profile] ellinestel, a lovely person who is a long time LotR fan, if she knows anyone in Moscow.

This is all very encouraging news but I rather fancy Elijah will pick and choose which event he will/might attend as with the numbers creeping up, he can't be everywhere - can he?! Nice if he could though.

Could be a diplomatic move and a kind gesture to his Russian fans if he attended this screening then?

That's great, the more places, the better. I wonder who puts up the money to have one of these showings & if that's why the director/producers didn't plan many festivals initially? You'd think the festival organizers would foot most of the bill though.

Thanks for that news - unfortunately I don't know anyone in Russia. That is such an interesting place for this film to be shown - wonder how Russian audiences will react to it?

But it's great to see it getting shown - the more the better!!

Do you happen to have a link to the festival site? Or to wherever you found out about this? I'd like to pass this information along, but I don't know where to send people.

Thank you! I saw after I asked you this that the date has turned up on the Day Zero website, but there's no date there, yet. I did find the Russian site for the festival, but it was indeed all in Russian, and I couldn't navigate it well enough to determine dates or anything. Still, it's something to go on! Thanks again.

Hmmm, doesn't the DZ website say September 23rd? I don't go to that website very often. It takes forever to open for me.

Oh, you're right, it does! Either it wasn't there when I looked earlier or I just missed it (the most likely scenario).

Here's the Russian site if you're interested: http://www.ruskino.ru/news/529

My daughter's boyfriend is from Russia. I will ask her to ask him if he knows anyone that might be interested and we could get in touch with.

Hey guys,
I don't have a LJ, but I like your community and visit it every time I'm online. I' m Russian and I'm a long-time Elijah fan. I think I could translate it for you if you like;-) Unfortunately, right now I'm a bit busy:( I just looked through that page, but Elijah will not go to Russia :,( I think. There's nothing about it.
Forgive my terrible English... And thanks for your community, It's the best place for an Elijah Wood fan from any country =)

According to the Raindance festival site, only Moody is going to be at the London viewings, but I suppose Elijah could show up unannounced. I doubt he'd go to all of these, he never does.

It's going to be shown at Tribeca? I guess I missed that. Actually, I hadn't heard about any but the Raindance festival site. It's most likely that Elijah would be at the Tribeca one, I think.

I have an LJ friend in the Ukraine and one in the Czech Republic, but I don't know anyone in Russia.

Thanks for the info, Yeux.
