Hot off the presses -- Day Zero will be screening on September 23rd as the official closing night film of the American Film Festival in Moscow. This is the first festival of American independent films to be held in Russia.
Does anyone know of an Elijah fan/LJer in Moscow? The only Russian I've encountered on line was a woman selling Russian magazines that contained articles and photos of Elijah during the LOTR days. I think she was in Leningrad.
I hope there will be some more festival showings here and in Europe.

Date: 2007-09-02 12:33 am (UTC)That's a very good question. I know you have to apply to a festival to have your film shown. In my search one day for something else, I came across the application form for one of the film festivals. It was long and detailed, but it was a .pdf file and I couldn't figure out a way to upload it to Photobucket so I could post it. If I could have, I would have because it was quite interesting.
I've never had the impression a production company had to pay to have their film shown. That would hardly be fair to companies that didn't have a lot of up-front money. However, there may be an application fee. I don't recall if the application form I found required a fee or not.

Date: 2007-09-02 12:27 am (UTC)I don't know, but I know LOTR was very popular in Russia, so many film goers would mostly likely know who Elijah is.

Date: 2007-09-02 12:52 am (UTC)LOL....I guess you looked harder than I did. I only checked out the first page of links Google gave before deciding I wouldn't find anything useful.
I saw after I asked you this that the date has turned up on the Day Zero website, but there's no date there, yet.
Hmmm, doesn't the DZ website say September 23rd? I don't go to that website very often. It takes forever to open for me.

Date: 2007-09-02 03:20 pm (UTC)I don't have a LJ, but I like your community and visit it every time I'm online. I' m Russian and I'm a long-time Elijah fan. I think I could translate it for you if you like;-) Unfortunately, right now I'm a bit busy:( I just looked through that page, but Elijah will not go to Russia :,( I think. There's nothing about it.
Forgive my terrible English... And thanks for your community, It's the best place for an Elijah Wood fan from any country =)

Date: 2007-09-04 10:43 pm (UTC)It's going to be shown at Tribeca? I guess I missed that. Actually, I hadn't heard about any but the Raindance festival site. It's most likely that Elijah would be at the Tribeca one, I think.
I have an LJ friend in the Ukraine and one in the Czech Republic, but I don't know anyone in Russia.
Thanks for the info, Yeux.

Date: 2007-09-05 12:48 am (UTC)It's not going to be shown at Tribeca...it already was shown at Tribeca. Remember when I went to see it April 29th and again on April 30th? Elijah, the entire cast, director, producer and writer were all there.

I now have an English version of that Russian website, but I'm debating whether or not to do an entry to post it. I don't know of anyone at LJ who would be going so I don't think it would be of that much interest.
