I got this news alert today, and thought, since things are so slow lately (I mean, if you don't get to do the music festival route, you don't see or even hear much about Elijah lately)... anyway, thought I'd share this.

Here is a copied and pasted short bit that mentions Elijah, from an article about "bad seed" films in the NewYorkDailyNews.com, by Joe Neumaier .

"The Good Son" (1993) Macaulay Culkin - as scowling cousin Henry, who'll surely grow up into a family problem - confirms everybody's worst fears and shows that mealy-mouthed little towheads with cowlicks resent better actors like Elijah Wood (as Henry's target, Mark.)

Message: Well, who grew up to become heroic hobbit Frodo? And who played New York party monster Michael Alig? We rest our case.

I guess it's a bit mean towards Mac but I can't help but like the bit about "better actors". Heehee. Thanks for sharing! I've given up checking my Yahoo alerts. I never get anything interesting!

I feel badly about Mac also but even when I didn't know Elijah from Adam I knew he was better than Mac. I thought their roles should be reversed.
Mac had the name and got the choice role. The film would have done so much better if they had gone with Elijah as the evil kid.

The first paragraph of the NY Times review of The Good Son has always stuck in my head. OK, not word for word but the gist:

"Macaulay Culkin is not too young to need career advice. It's a triple mistake for him to have appeared in "The Good Son" as Henry Evans, a disturbed and malicious little boy. First of all, this character's brattiness is deeply unappealing. Second, a role as solemn as this one makes it clear that wisecrack-filled comedy is what Mr. Culkin does best. And third, his co-star is Elijah Wood, the second hottest child star of the moment (whose credits include "The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn"), and a fine little actor who is much more comfortable with dramatic material. Although Mr. Culkin has top billing, Mr. Wood serves as the hero of this story."

I know it was written at the time but they scored a bullseye on this on.

Sorry I'm so late in commenting - howdy stranger!! Hope all is well with you. I thought Elijah acted rings around Macaulay Culkin (aren't you shocked) and glad to see someone else noticed too!! I actually wish Elijah had the chance for a darker part when he was younger - he would have done it so well!! Thanks for posting.
