This film needs to be seen on the big screen as DVD just doesn't do the fight scenes justice. I agree that it wasn't given enough cinema listings but neither was EII which is a masterpiece. Well I think it is. Good to see someone praise GSE like this and thanks for sharing it with us.

We didn't even get GSH in cinemas here in Australia which is a shame because even on DVD Elijah looked so beautiful in it so I can only imagine what he would've looked like on the big screen.

But I'm proud to say that EII played here for 3 months - well here in Melbourne anyway. The cinema it played at the longest is in our Jewish heartland so I probably have that community to thank for supporting it so well. It was that cinema I chose to go to when I saw EII too and it certainly made it an enriching experience watching it with an elderly Jewish audience. They didn't shut up the whole way through but they were all reacting so emotionally to what they were seeing on the screen. At first I was annoyed by their constant prattle but before long I just found it moving. Anyway.. sorry to ramble!! :D

The stores here is getting a fairly good rental income from the film. Even viewers less likely to rent a "fight" film have heard of it through word of mouth and commented on how much they enjoyed it.

Thanks so much - it's so nice to hear a good review of GSH. I was lucky enough to see it in the theater twice before it disappeared (had to drive to do it but I am an Elijaholic after all) and was so glad I did. Seeing that face on the big screen is always alskjdfl;sal;dkflsdjf - but especially with this film. I really agreed with the review - except for Charlie being the stand-out performance because for me (of course) it was Elijah. I so wish this film had gotten a wider distribution and that more people had "gotten" the point of the film.

You're really lucky to have seen it in the cinema..
I was SO late joining this fandom, that even though i live in the UK, i missed it..along with a lot of other things, which is a great pity.. I would have loved to have seen 'that face' on the big screen.. ( btw..just what does 'alskjdfl;sla;dkflsdjf' stand for????)

BUT i'm going to be REALLY lucky in a few weeks time and see Frodo, in glorious colour at the cinema..a chance i missed first time round.. ..those eyes..omg!! i can't wait!!

Great review..but i agree, Elijah stood out a mile for me!!

He he - alskdjflsjflksdf is what you do when you are so brain dead from Elijah gorgeousness that you can't put it into words!! I also came to the fandom late so never saw FOTR on the big screen. So happy for you that you will have that chance!! Now I am waiting to see if I get a chance to see Paris J'taime on the big screen - then Day Zero - actually about the only time I actually go to the movies is for an Elijah movie - I usually just catch movies on cable.

Me too. the last film i saw was Bobby, and before that it was Happy Feet. Can't see PJT getting to the cimena's around here though, pity!! But i can't wait for Day Zero.. and more so for when The OXFORD MURDERS/CRIMES come out!!!..

Yes, this movie surely deserved a better treatment in teathers. Here in Italy it was released for at about 10 days then disappeared, to become available in DVD.

Hmmm, I assume the writer is in the US. I wonder why he thinks it went straight to video here because that's not true. It played in very few theaters, but the largest cities had it. Maybe he lives in the boonies like I do and assumes it went straight to video because it wasn't shown in any theaters near him. I don't think it was shown anywhere in my entire state, but I saw it in NYC.
