Late, tired. I can't articulate things correctly. Today was a hard day (again). People are starting to make fun of me when I say it's been a hard day, because EVERY day is hard. Still, Elijah and Leonor made it easy, delightful, despite everything being difficult and tiresome [thorny, tricky]. What fantastic actors, God. They're an explosive pair, marvelous.

The day started out with a difficult technical problem that forced us to do over a few takes with Elijah. As if CSI were in the middle of it, there was a search for the guilty ones. It was only an accident, but accidents are expensive in this kind of productions, losing an hour is a disaster that can cost thousands of pounds. Even so we reacted in time, and Elijah didn't have any problem with filming his shot again, without a single complaint, and besides that, he managed to give me a lesson on how to behave. I was angry, flabbergasted, and I felt like breaking down and crying, like I could bite the walls. But he demonstrated truly admirable aplomb.


I also have to thank Leonor for saving me from having to use doubles for her sex scenes. I had four girls ready, two of whom seemed feasible, of them VERY feasible. However, Leonor showed that she not only didn't need it, but that the film, let's say, GAINED a lot by having her, if you understand me. I didn't want to film Last Tango [in Paris], but I did want something powerful, something to explain how happy two young people can be when they desire each other. Humbly, I do believe we've achieved that.

I couldn't agree more. I think he would be considered for additional types of roles if the film world can see him pull this off convincingly.

You are so right, Yeuxdebleu. While not every top actor plays strictly romantic roles, many play meaty, adult roles that involve romantic or sexual relationships, even if they are only a side aspect of the film. If EW is to be considered for adult male roles, that he can play a love scene is important. It would imply he could play a fully-fledged romantic relationship on screen (whether there are any actual love scenes or not), which would open so much more for him. So far, the most convincing amorous scenes I've seen him do have been with the Ring. He needs to convince viewers with a human lover.

I've thought that for some time myself. I've been afraid he'd be considered as only a character actor. I think directors and casting agents don't see him as sexy....unlike his fans. He has to find a way to cast off the teenage...even nerd...image many have of him.

Actually *smiles timidly* I loved his scenes with Franka but I know I'm probably the only one in the fandom who thinks that way! LOL I was expecting to be embarassed by them but for me they sizzled together not only in the seduction scene but in their conversational scenes. I think his relative inexperience at the time(an assumption I know) worked for that movie. The other kissing scenes he did with Mandy Moore and Deborah Harry were truly truly awful (I cringe even to think about them!).

I'm thinking with more real life experience, especially having now been in a long-term relationship,Elijah will be more comfortable in portraying his own sexuality on screen. One can only hope!!

I'm sure you're right that his greater experience will pay off for this movie. His awkwardness in AIW kind of worked because he was supposed to be on 17, at least IMHO.

I liked his scenes with Franka too, especially the "this is not happening scene" So many sex scenes in films leave me totally uninvolved; they are all physical, with little or no emotion or tenderness. That scene in AIW seemed to me full of emotion, the physical part was left to the imagination (often the best way) and the smile on his face the following morning told all you needed to know.
