Elijah was great today on Jo Whiley. I took notes and he said some things that, for me, were really good to hear and had me almost jumping up & down in my chair with happiness! There was one particular thing he came out with that really had me squeeing for a particular reason. :-) I won't repeat any of it here because that might be too spoilerish for some. But really, the interview is definitely worth listening to if you can, and even more especially if you're a LOTR fan!

I went to the webpage at the link above, but I can't see a way to find the specific Jo Whiley show that Elijah was on. Help...please!

Thank you! I hadn't yet seen her downloadable links when I left my comment for you. I was able to download the mp3 file (a frightening 2-1/2 hr. undertaking with dial-up) and enjoyed the interview immensely. One of his best and most interesting in a long time. Jo Whiley is a good host and I think he likes her. It shows.

Thanks again for everything.

Being in the US, the only times I've heard Jo Whiley were when she's had Elijah on the show.

At the moment I'm listening to "New Magnetic Wonder" which I just got today. The CD has 24 tracks and I'm only on #8, but I like the Apples so far. There's a lot of difference in their sound from one song to the next. So far I like them.

Until I got their CD, the only AIS song I'd heard was "Energy" in the video Elijah directed. I was not impressed. The band seemed boring and so did the song. But there is much more on the CD that's better than "Energy." And they have so many different "sounds" from one song to the next. The 24 tracks may seem like a lot on paper, but I discovered that many of them are short bridges from one track to the next.

I could be wrong, but "Energy" on the CD sounds much better. It's a different "take" -- longer, for starters, and a little bit different arrangement. I'd need to listen to the video and CD back-to-back to be sure though.

I have only heard snatches of H&TSF, so I suppose I shouldn't be so quick to pass judgement on them. The first photo I saw of Heloise was sitting with Elijah at the Olympus Fashion Week last year in NYC. I remember thinking she looked "normal" size. LOL

That's probably the beginning of the end for your mouse. Usually it just gets worse and worse until you can't get it off the edge of the page.

It's all chance with a mouse. My MS optical is three years old, and working fine. Raederle's new Dell came with a mouse (also optical) of limited days. We replaced it within a few months.

I just had a chance to listen to the interview and I know what you mean - made me very happy!! Much better interview than Graham Norton - but I guess Graham Norton is really more comedy bits than an actual interview. We seem to hear a lot more new info from radio interviews than TV. I am just basking in all the Elijah goodness right now!!

It's a wonderful interview, isn't it? And I'll say what really made me happy - I'm sure most people have heard the interview by now. It's when he was asked which role he feels proudest of. I held my breath for the couple of seconds before he answered "Frodo". It always makes me feel good when he says things like that - one of my favourite quotes from a very recent interview was (of Frodo) "I always keep the character close to my heart". Bless him for that. I was even ridiculously pleased when he recently mentioned that he'd still like to live in NZ!! I was also pleased that he said in this Jo Whiley interview that he's still friendly with Dom & Billy & Vig. Would have been even more pleased if he'd included Sean, but perhapss he just forgot. Did you notice that he called "our film" 'The Oxford Crimes'? He's called it that before - I wonder if that will be the actual title.

It seems you were pleased about all the same things as me!! He mentioned the NZ thing at the very end of the Instant Talk Show he did in New York when they're in the taxi. The interviewer was asking him about New York - then it somehow got onto living in a cabin in the woods and he suddenly said "I'd like to live in NZ". There is a download link on this page - you'll need to scroll down a bit:

I read your latest entry on this subject. I used to worry that he might start to distance himself from LOTR but I don't now - he has said so many things on this subject to completely reassure me - I could fill many pages with quotes to the effect that he'll always be proud to be known as Frodo, that LOTR was the greatest experience of his life - that he'd never even want to try to top it. At one time I couln't even bear to think of him associated with any other film than LOTR - but I knew that was silly. I feel confident now that whatever roles he takes on, Frodo will always be closest to his heart. I hated that HotDog headline too - but then I realised that those weren't Elijah' words - they were the reporter's. Elijah doesn't say that in the acctual interview. Journalists love to head any article about him with "Leaving Frodo behind" "Goodbye to ME" etc, etc - but those headlines are never Elijah's actual words. And I've noticed that very often in intervieews it's Elijah who mentions LOTR first - that was the case with this Instant Talk Show. Sorry, that's turned into a bit of a ramble but it's something I feel very passionate about.
