Hello everyone, this is my translation of a recent blog entry. My translation may well have some mistakes in it, but probably less than Babelfish's. :) The original is here:
http://blasfemandoenelvrticedeluniverso.blogspot.com/2007/02/despues-de-vietnam-al-vietnamita.html
There was a plan to go get dinner at a Vietnamese restaurant, and Elijah was planning to go, and he said he would bring along Vigo [hee!] Mortensen, who's in town doing a film with Cronenberg, as addicts of this blog are already aware. It seemed like a good plan, really, but I came back to my "The Shining" apartment and I've been abducted. The damn twins are holding me here with their psychic powers. Some other day we'll make plans and go wherever you want, but as Campanilla, one of the readers of the blog, says, I'm not that young anymore. So I'm staying here and writing, and I hope they have a great time at the Vietnamese place. Although, to tell you the truth, it sounds like the typical kind of plan where in the end it's just Paco the wardrobe guy and me at the Vietnamese place, which is what always happens. Man, if Cronenberg were coming, I'd make an effort, but I don't think he will. He's probably exhausted at his apartment.
Today we only had one scene with Elijah. Pamela, his girlfriend, is back from Moscow. What a joy to see her around the set, with her smile. A true delight. And Mr. Hurt was splendid. I recorded his voiceovers. We also finished up with Alex Cox, filming the sequences from the psych hospital. Thank you, Mr. Cox. This weekend I'll put up some mythical photos...
The other day some paparazzis came and took pictures on the set... They're probably those pictures that come out on realnews. Tomorrow we change locations, go to Bushey... God, I feel like I'm slowly running out of batteries. It seems that my organism administrates my energy and it generates a kind of extra motor for filming, and when it runs out, it stops, and I feel like the bunnies that don't have Duracell.

Date: 2007-02-02 08:10 pm (UTC)It really is. Reminds me a little of that other Alex's voice in Everything Is Illuminated (not to mention the compositions my students used to hand in when I taught ESL). I remember listening to a radio interview (I think it might have been posted by Bunnie) where Eugene Hutz was saying how much fun it was to mangle English in that role, and lamenting the fact that in real life his English has improved enough so that he doesn't do that anymore. He was talking about trying to learn Spanish so that he'd have another language he could mangle.
Yay for LotR cast reunions!!

Date: 2007-02-03 01:59 am (UTC)I like the short do too. But then I love short hair on women generally. I think it always looks very chic and flattering, unless of course its cut too boyishly. I think too many women persist in wearing their hair long but in my opinon you really have to have damm good cheek-bones to carry it off.

Date: 2007-02-03 06:59 am (UTC)It certainly is! There was a French playwright by name of Racine who wrote some pretty (IMO) boring plays that I had to study at one point! ;-)
I think some people expect Thai people to look the same as Chinese people which isn't always the case. I read on LJ just recently someone saying they thought Elizabeth Sun looked more "Asian" than Pamela which made me giggle a bit. I think what the person was thinking was that Elizabeth looked more Chinese.
This is something I've picked up here on LJ too -- Pam & Elizabeth being described as "Asian", but to me they look oriental. For me "Asian" is more e.g. Indian/Pakistani/Singaporean kind of thing.
I agree that, for instance, Koreans or Vietnamese don't look the same as Chinese or Japanese people. A long time back I had a Thai friend, and her name was ... believe it or not ... P0rn! ;-)

Date: 2007-02-03 07:13 am (UTC)The idea of teaching EFL or ESL has always appealed to me -- I recall a friend of mine specialising in ESL for Chinese people. I bet it's interesting!
Yay for LotR cast reunions!!
*sigh* If only I could see that blissful look on Elijah's face again -- the one he used to have with some of the other LOTR cast members ...

Date: 2007-02-03 10:20 am (UTC)Yes, that's Frodo in my icon -- I made it myself from a screencap I found on the net! I think I'm the only one with an icon like this (except someone else may have "borrowed" the image).

Date: 2007-02-03 10:31 am (UTC)Yeah love your icon. I thought it was Frodo but he looks so unsual I wasn't 100%sure. Love the one you've just used too - the pale skin and black inky hair! Hmmm.

Thank you! :-) The first one is from when he's packing to leave Bag End, I think. Do you like this one? Look familiar? ;-)

Date: 2007-02-03 10:52 am (UTC)Hehe! I didn't see it & wasn't snitching your wish, I promise! ;-)
Although if they were at a Vietnamese restaurant maybe it would be more appropriate to have them in a rice paper roll!
Mmmmm, is that the kind of stuff that melts in your mouth? *looks innocently at ceiling & suppresses a smile*
Viggo is also quite ... attractively ... generously ... erm ... packaged. Yeah. That's the right word.
