Hi there,
This part deals mainly with Elijah's interview .
On the bonus DVD of the German deluxe edition, in the "Interviews Cast & Crew" section, you'll find interviews with :
Alexander Buono (camera)
Tom Brown (production design)
Pat Johnson (stunt coordination)
Deborah Del Prete (producer)
Lesley Lamont-Fisher (Make Up)
Elijah Wood ('Matt Buckner')
Charlie Hunnam ('Pete Dunham')
Marc Warren ('Steve Dunham')
Claire Forlani ('Shannon Dunham')
and Leo Gregory ('Bovver'),
while the German language interview with director Lexi Alexander can be found in the main menu of the bonus disk.
Throughout, there are interesting snippets from time to time about Elijah and how he's to work with.
All interviews (apart from the one with director Lexi Alexander) come in the original English language . It is not possible to suppress the annoying German subtitles for the whole bonus DVD, you have to "switch them off" individually for each individual interviewee instead.
Like the Behind The Scenes parts, the interview parts have a coarser picture quality to them than, for example, the picture quality of the actual movie. That was done deliberately, probably to make it look more 'handmade'. A similar technique of downgrading was applied, for instance, to all the pictures and stills featured on the DVD sleeve / case and in the booklet, where to each picture, two artificial creases were added, as if the photo print had been folded before.
The interview with Elijah was apparently recorded during the actual filming of the movie, in the studio 'pub' set , back in April 2004 (as opposed to the interview parts of the plain German DVD, which were recorded during the Edinburgh Film Festival in August 2005).
In the whole, it is 9 min 15 sec long and deals with several subjects / questions :
Elijah about what 'Hooligans' is about and how he came to work for the project (0:00 until 2:32)
Elijah about his character 'Matt' (2:32 until 3:48)
Elijah about soccer / football (3:48 until 5:12)
Elijah about the importance of (the style of) clothes to their characters and to the film (5:12 until 7:20)
Elijah about director Lexi Alexander (7:20 until 9:15)
I think the most revealing part is the one about soccer / football , so you'll find a transcript (done by myself) of that part below :

Elijah :
"Yeah, I think I am a bit of a football fan now. It's now become such a part of my life - I mean, I've been here for about a month and a half, and errhm, it's something that we talk about every day, it's something we play at lunch, you know, there are games on nearly every night that we're trying to follow, it's constantly, you know, in conversations on set about who's playing who and who won which game and, you know, who's a rival of another team, you know - it's, errh, it's - kind of all-encompassing.
Erhm, so I imagine I'll probably carry that with me when I go back home. Erhm And I've now sort of started following a couple'o'teams. And so I think - I kinda have to, I think it would be rude not to, you know ?
The problem with me is, I'm not a huge sports fan in general. I don't really follow sports. You know, I grew up in Iowa, which is a huge football state - and basketball as well - and I grew up watching both of those sports and not really caring [laughs] .
And so I kind of - as I got older, I never really played when I was young, I just didn't have any interest in following any sports - so it's difficult : in, in, my nature is not to follow sports, it takes too much energy [laughs] . But, erhh, yeah, I'm sure football will be a part of my life, probably forever now, I think this movie has certainly left its imprint."

[ Karin says : ] I think I remember an interview a few years later when Elijah had to admit he didn't really follow football anymore, so I think the "old Elijah" with no interest in sports came back eventually LOL !
Here are a few screenshots of Elijah's interview part (again, they had to be done by taking photographs of the screen, so they are suboptimal) - of course they all resemble each other, so just a few so that you'll get an impression . . .

[Karin says : ] Have I already told you how much I love that sweatshirt ? Or, rather, Elijah in that sweatshirt ? ;o)
You will have to wait for the final part in this series ( about the exclusive booklet pictures ) some more, as I am not sure when I will find the time to do it . . . Please bear with me.
Love,
- Karin.
