Six ans après LE SEIGNEUR DES ANNEAUX, Elijah Wood troque ses pieds poilus de hobbit contre de solides chaussures de trekking. L'ex-Frodon incarnera prochainement le diplomate Rory Stewart dans EN AFGHANISTAN (...)

Le nom d’Elijah Wood évoque encore peu de choses au public en dehors de son rôle de Frodon. Pourtant, le comédien a su passer d'un projet à l'autre comme CRIMES A OXFORD ou TOUT EST ILLUMINE, et prochainement EN AFGHANISTAN.

Six ans après ses tribulations fantastiques, Elijah Wood est donc pressenti pour incarner une grande figure de l’humanitaire, Rory Stewart, d’après son livre autobiographique, « En Afghanistan ». Après avoir été dépêché dans ce pays au début des années 2000, ce jeune diplomate écossais s’est fixé une mission d’envergure : traverser le pays, d’ouest en est en hiver, armé de ses seuls pieds. L’appréhension terrestre de cet endroit a fait grandir son implication dans les problématiques politiques et sociales. A tel point qu’il a crée la « Turquoise Mountain Foundation », en vue de conserver les richesses naturelles du pays, et qu’il a occupé le poste de gouverneur des provinces irakiennes en 2003-2004.

Ce beau rôle a fait l’objet de vives convoitises, comme Orlando Bloom qui s'est battu pour l'obtenir. Mais les Editions Albin Michel, qui détiennent les droits du livre de Rory Stewart, en ont décidé autrement et lui ont préféré Elijah Wood. L’acteur a encore quelques mois pour se mettre en jambe avant un tournage qui s’annonce éprouvant.

The interesting thing is that the article is on the website of Canalplus, and Studio Canal, the producer of the movie, is the production dept of the same company, so people over there may know about the status of the pre-production and about the desicions made. There are many things that still can happen :/, but I really hope for this project becoming real :)

Thank you so much for this. It's looking good. I wonder if this has been put to him a while ago, something for him to consider. It would certainly explain the frequent workouts and the bulking up of his toned abs..

Being a fan of both Elijah and Orlando, I'm sort of torn. Neither or them really looks like Stewart:


It looks like if Elijah wants a better resemblance to Stewart, he will have to wear false teeth in this one, as he did in Deep Impact (and I say that in all affection):
