Entertainment Weekly Pick:
The Apples in Stereo, New Magnetic Wonder
(Simian/Yep Roc)
Led by the bald, Beach Boys-obsessed Kentucky resident Robert Schneider, the Apples in Stereo have been transmitting their fussed-out, hook-heavy psychedelia for over a decade. We have a hobbit to thank for this, their first album in five years and their best in twice that long. New Magnetic Wonder is the debut release from bright-eyed actor Elijah Wood's Simian Records - and each of its 24 tracks snaps and crackles with Schneider's sugary, peerless pop. All hail the return of the king.
Nothing really new.. but I'd never posted here with finding an Elijah-something, so I thought I'd plop this in. :)
