WARNING: SPOILERS!

[livejournal.com profile] bunniewabbit told me to post this here...maybe someone can help?

Translation please? Thank you!

EDIT: "I've never really cared for math. I have a friend who spends time answering problems for fun. It just goes over my head. Contrary to what my character thinks, I don't believe that science has the answer to everything. I believe in fate."
- Elijah quote trans. by [livejournal.com profile] hobbitangel4eva
EDIT2: "In the paved courtyard of a British university, a concert is in full swing. Entranced by fireworks from the roof, the audience is in period costume to commemorate the 5th November 1605, the date on which a Catholic, Guy Fawkes, tried to blow up the Houses of Parliament. While the crowd is bringing down the house, the leader of the orchestra is far from suspecting that, in a few moments, the triangle player will collapse onto the scene, the victim of an attack.

"Cut!" It's in the gothic surroundings of the Naval College at Greenwich that Alex de la Iglesia has positioned his camera to film at night the most spectacular scene of The Oxford Murders, adapted from a novel by Argentinian Guillermo Martinez."

I have a friend who spends time answering problems for fun.

I don't know for sure, but I wouldn't be suprised if he was talking about Robert Schneider, from Apples In Stereo =)

Yep, my thought exactly. Mr. Schneider claims to have had a mystical experience with numbers! Interesting fellow.

danke! "I believe in fate" - hmmm. I believe in fate as well but I also believe we choose our own fate - however there is a plan for all of us that God sees. I like the "I don't believe that science has the answer to everything." part :nods:

A hasty translation of the first para as far as "Guillermo Martinez".

<< In the paved courtyard of a British university, a concert is in full swing.

"Cut!" It's in the gothic surroundings of the Naval College at Greenwich that Alex de la Iglesia has positioned his camera to film at night the most spectacular scene of The Oxford Murders, adapted from a novel by Argentinian Guillermo Martinez. >>

Sorry folks, but that's all I have time for at the moment! :-)

Thanks so much for that! Great translation. A bit spoilery, though. I've read the book so I don't mind at all, but some other people are trying to avoid spoilers. Maybe I'll suggest to Angel that she post a spoilers warning.

Thanks Angel. :-)

Based on Lyrastar's partial translation, it sounds like the article contains spoilers, so you might want to note that in the entry and warn people trying to avoid spoilers about reading any translations including those in the comments.

Having read it, I think that that is the worst and only serious spoiler in the article.

I knew that "smoking" was a Dinner Jacket/Tux but I never knew that bow tie was "noeud papillon". You learn something everyday. It's kind of cute (papillon = butterfly).

Thanks for the article!

Thanks very much for the translation - Elijah and I have something in common... ;D (see the first paragraph)

I knew John Hurt's character looked like Guy Fawkes in those pics, and this explains why!

I'm *so* looking forward to this film, it feels like it's *our* movie :)
