Since it's so quiet on the news front, a short update on Happy Feet's Box Office.

Definitely tapering off now. After the Easter weekends actuals, HF is on $197,756,995. It only added $111,559 over the weekend and the number of theatres is steadily falling (last weekend in 224 theatres, down 70 from the previous week. This is still twice as many as Everything is Illuminated managed at peak!). So, the end is nigh. I'm not sure it's even going to manage to get over $198 million. But really there's little to complain about in Happy Feet's run.

Internationally, its total stands at $181,400,000. Which, logically, means the entire world wide total is $379,156,995.

Veering off onto other movies, nothing new to report on Bobby but Paris Je T'aime saunters on occasionally getting released in different countries: its international (and currently world wide) total is $7,100,184. It's not been released in all the major markets yet (e.g. the UK is listed as 22/6/07 which is not a date I can remember seeing before). I think it's safe to say that internationally, PJT is going to out gross Bobby (international gross=$7,703,131) even if it doesn't do so in the US/Canada. Perhaps not surprising LOL.

Veering off even wilder, DVD rental grosses. I'm not sure how accurate these are (boxofficemojo haven't been doing them that long as far as I'm aware) but here goes anyway as you can never have too many numbers. I believe these are rental grosses only and not DVD sales. Also, I'm assuming they are "domestic" only.

Happy Feet (only upto 1/4/07): $8.26 million

Looking back in history, Everything is Illuminated had as a rental gross $3.58 million (only tracked until 23/4/06) and I don't think any other of his films are listed for DVD rentals.

All date formats UK style: Day/Month/Year because that's what looks normal for me.

I was going to ask you if they tracked DVD rentals! Or rather, if there was a way to see what something grossed. EII doesn't sound too bad, and I know people are still renting it, because I keep finding blogs written by people who just saw it. Same thing for GSH (and a good number of them are positive reviews, too). A pity there is no information for GSH rentals; I'd be interested to know what they were/are like.

What about DVD sales? Is there anywhere that tracks that?

I think it's pretty cool that Happy Feet can still be found in the theatre, especially since they've already released the DVD.

Thanks - I agree with you and don't think it'll get over $198 million. Still a great total!!

i like that you're still looking at the grosses. i would have put money that HF would have reached $200 million by now. but it doesn't look like it. still, it chips away ever so slowly. oh well, it's got the oscar. :D

i checked HF's dvd sales at billboard magazine's site about a week ago, and i saw in its first week out, it was #2 in sales.
