I love that Alex has his blog for us to read. Or at least try to read. His latest entry was put through another translator.

As you probably recall, filming on the movie beings on January 22, which is tomorrow. I think this is just stating that Elijah suggested they get drunk on Vodka (Russian vodka) and although the idea sounded good to Alex, he realizes that he must overcome that because tomorrow he has to get up very early to begin filming.

The "planes of tomorrow" probably means he knows which scenes he's going to film, but still needs to discuss with others in which order to shoot them.

What I do when I use the translators is I then go to a Spanish to English dictionary and look up individual words to get more meanings for them. It takes longer but then you can make more sense out of it.

In my little study of movie scheduling and budgeting, I discovered that they take the script and break it into scenes, then they decide what locations, equipment, people etc. they'll need for each one. Then they decide what to shoot and when, the resources they'll need and how much it should cost. Then they set their budget, look at it for reasonableness and adjust as needed. It's really quite complex, but that's the only way to do it and know what it's going to take. It's quite a rigorous task. If they get behind they have to kick butt to get back on schedule or else they'll go over budget and that's usually a no-no. So yeah, getting drunk the night before is not a good idea. I think Elijah probably was just joking around or else he was trying to help Alex and everyone else relax. I imagine the stress of it all is rather intense.

Yes I read into that that Elijah wanted everyone to relax after the recent tension. I doubt he would seriously suggest they all got stoned as he is a professional but a little merry, that I could believe!

OK, between the two translations, I think I get the hang of it. Sounds to me like he wanted to "drink liters and liters of vodka" and forget about work worries, but Elijah's common sense prevailed and he talked Alex out of it. Isn't that what he's thanking Elijah for?

Elijah wanted us to go to a Russian (bar) and have a great time, and there was nothing on earth I wanted more than to drink litres and litres of vodka and lose consciousness until reaching that marvelous point when form and content melt into one, that moment when you lose your identity and you become a part of the whole. Very nice translation, Sophi. Yes, that's what I make of the entry, too. And lol, Elijah is still at that age where the answer to all life's stressors is to get drunk. *rolls eyes*

I bet he (and Pam with him?) went to the Russian bar anyway; but I also bet Elijah shows up for filming just fine in the AM. :-)

Interesting that Elijah wanted to go to a Russian bar. As I just wrote and posted to my LJ, Viggo is in London shooting a film where he plays a member of the Russian Mafia and his makeup tattoos apparently scared people in a Russian bar near the set. I wonder if Elijah and Viggo are meeting up? Or if the Russian bar is just a coincidence. I saw the article about it originally on TORn.
