I discovered that Paris je t'aime has just been released on DVD in France - you can find it at Amazon.fr for example. It's a 2-disc collector's edition and according to the listing, it includes among other things a 2-hour Making Of, as well as a featurette on Elijah's segment - from what I get it's about the special effects though (Séquences animatique de "Quartier de la Madeleine" réalisé par Vincenzo Natali - someone who speaks better French than me correct me if I'm wrong), so I have no idea how much Elijah might be in it.

sigh It's so tempting to get it for the special features, cause if it ever comes out here in the US, those may not be on it. I must ponder.

Thanks for the heads up.

ahhh... so that's why the clip is up on you tube! i'd like to see the whole film and the extras sound good, but alas, i don't have a multi-regional player. i hope it comes out in the states and with all the extra goodies.

If you're interested in converting your DVD player, you could try searching on the internet for instructions to make your own DVD player multi-region. Usually it's just a matter of keying various codes into the player using the remote. This hacks into the DVD players pre-set program. When I bought my DVD player, it wasn't multi-region, but the man at the shop gave me instructions he'd got off the internet. It was pretty easy to do. Anyway, just thought I'd share that in case you were interested.

WHEEE!!!

Sounds ever so tempting, but, oh my, my French!
Yet I do believe you're right about Sequences animatique meaning special effects.

Now am I going to order it from the French amazon, or am I going to wait a bit for an
edition I can actually understand??

Ah well...

*hurries over to French Amazon- just can't help myself*

Well, it wouldn't do me any good to order the French DVD set because most of us in the US don't have multi-regional DVD players. We can play only region one DVDs. I hope the English version will be available soon....and with the special on Elijah's segment.

I guess this explains how his segment ended up on YouTube.

Thanks for the info, [livejournal.com profile] ourdramaqueen !

I immediately went and ordered it from Amazon.fr (it's more expensive via Ebay.fr , so I chose the former option), though not from them directly, but via the "marketplace" section, where I can get it used, but for a little less money.

As is typically for French DVDs, it comes without English subtitles, but at least for the "Quartier Madeleine" segment with Elijah, they are hardly necessary, aren't they ?

However, the bonus features in French ? Let's wait and see . . .

Amazon.fr also sells "Paris Je T'Aime" books = tourist guides that tell you the exact places where the segments were filmed, including Elijah's segment, as well as more informations what to see in the respective part of Paris.

However, as I don't plan any holidays in France in the immediate future, I passed on that option.

Love,

- Karin.

Damn. I was hoping that it might have English subtitles, but your comment's answered that question. :(
