...courtesy of [livejournal.com profile] lemming23. Unfortunately, though they are unwatermarked, the quality is terrible on most of them, I suppose because they want you to shell out the dough for the best versions. Better but smaller versions of most of them have appeared in the past.

I don't personally care much for this shoot, even though it produced one of my favorite photos of Elijah. Many of the poses are awkward, the proportions seem odd, and I get the feeling that the photographer really didn't "get" Elijah. Nevertheless, there are definitely some keepers in here.

The files are huge in most cases, and I have no idea why that is. Sorry about that. Consequently, nowhere near dial-up friendly.

I think it's a telling thing that two out of the three shots selected for the magazine are not so much posed as captured:

Boy, he sure can look different from one shoot to the next. You say this is an older shoot. When were these made, Bunnie?

Thanks, Bunnie. I saved the very last one and wanted to identify it properly. I see below that the photographers was Robert Erdmann.

I couldn't get them to all download and I'm on a high speed connnection. But I'll try again later. But GUH! They are gorgeous. I never have seen all of these. Those first few are glorious. I love how his tiny waist is accented there and *ahem* other things. ; )

Thanks so very much Bunnie and Lemming!

Ah, the "mattress" shoot! :-)

I've always loved the one of him resting his head on the box. And the "wink" photo. And the last two in the series!

Thanks for posting these!

They are not all swoonliciously gorgeous, but they are interesting in that you see his face in a relaxed, unselfconcious light; as you might see it in a normal conversation with him. Or, say, if he was helping you move living quarters! ;-) (I gotta say, a scuffed-up matress has got to be one of the weirdest photo-shoot backgrounds yet.)

And I love the 8th one up, in which he is rolling his eyes! I may have to employ my very limited icon making skills to that one; it could come in handy!

Finally got most of them to download and some are real beauties. I've seen many before but never in such detail. Kept being drawn to the freckles and hairs on his arms!

I agree with you about the shoot. Overall it seems like a weird one-- all those goofy cramped poses, all the shots of Elwood looking down his nose at the camera. But there are some beauties in there, even so.

The second picture and the last one are my favorites. Most of them are a little strange in the pose and angle.

I know what you mean about not caring for some of the pics, but I love the mattress shoot. I made my first LJ icon (points) from it in May, 2003 and I have the pics filed as having been taken by R. Erdmann in March of that year.

I hope you have more 'memory lane' pics to delight us with!

Thanks for the info. As I guess you know, I'm miles from anything even remotely like a Borders store, but perhaps I can find that issue on eBay.

I think I'll let the photos open while I clean the kitchen. LOL

Dial-up might just make them a lost cause. :/

Took 3 hours and 51 minutes, but they finally all opened.

They're stunning. Thanks.

Oh, no need to apologize. It's certainly not your fault. I did some much needed housework during that time. Just popped into the den occasionally to keep things moving. Eventually AOL times out and I get boxes with red Xes, so I have to click on them to keep the pics opening. Slow, but it works....and it's nothing you need to apologize for. I'm used to it, unfortunately. *wink*

I've always liked the hugging-the-box shot, and the mattress ones, but on the whole, you are right: the photographer doesn't seem to really connect with Elijah in this shoot. But I've enjoyed seeing all of these together as a group - thank you and Lemming both :)

It's funny - I've always felt exactly the same way as you about this shoot, but in downloading these pics I found that as I watched them fill up my screen I was pretty much loving every shot. I totally got off on seeing him photographed in a way that didn't immediately pander to his natural beauty - eyes, bone structure etc. He looks so "boysy" in this shoot. Ok I just made up that word.

Yes that one you described of him sitting on the box is right up there with my faves from this shoot (now). Yes "pure Elwood" is right on the button!

GEORGEOUS!!!

I've never cared much for this shoot. Elijah's hair is way too short for my taste, and of course there's the beard. I was looking through my collection of Elijah pics and was surprised to see how few of them show him clean-shaven. It's as if he's worn facial hair in some style or another since he hit puberty.

The "theme" of the photoshoot didn't impress me much either. Wood posing with wood. Not the most original concept.

But mostly it's because Elijah doesn't really seem into it. Normally in photoshoots he's projecting a persona: funny, sexy, etc., but in all but one of two of these photos, I don't see any spark in Elijah's normally expressive eyes. Perhaps he didn't like the photographer's concept either.

I dared not open this from my home computer since I'm on sloooooow dial-up, but even before I saw them, I KNEW which shoot you were talking about. There a few from each of them that are nice, but for the most part, in my humble opinion, the photographer was just TRYING way too hard to be...what exactly was it he was going for do you think? Edgy? Artistic? Theme-ish (especially the "wood" one). As someone else pointed out, the ones that really turned out well seem to be the almost accidental ones. In lots of the others he looks half asleep (and not in the good, sexy way) and completly uninterested - and even, not well (healthwise) in a few. Anywho.

Thank you! :)

*meep* So much eye candy!

When one of these first appeared (hoodie, dark pants, leaning on milk box, one leg up at right angles to floor), I remember commenting the only innocence in the shot is in his hands. It was pure "come here"!
