It's not that I'm trying to protect the relationship; it's more that I don't want to encourage gossip and speculation about his personal life. If it becomes a fact (which would require corroboration of some sort, I suppose), then I don't have a problem with it anymore -- unless people then start theorizing as to why they broke up... ARGH.
Sure, I understand that. Myself, I find it all a bit difficult to understand sometimes. I'll always be very fond of Elijah because he played Frodo, but although my interest in him might wax & wane from time to time, and I might harbour my own preferences about who I would/would not like him to be with, it doesn't make any real difference to me & my life as to who he is or is not with, and why, or even if he is dating no-one at all. He's still Elijah & that's what counts for me.
Nothing but trouble could come of posting that sort of news in a comm like this. I can smell it from here! :D I guess I will just have to cross that bridge when I come to it. And in that respect, it will be much easier on me if they never break up! Hee!
Well, maybe you'll need to batten down the hatches if/when that happens! ;-D Perhaps it's just that most of the people posting at the comm are of a certain mindset. A while back I found something in an old comm about becoming a shipper. Part of it says:
Step 10: Should your chosen celeb split from their other half - be devastated! Always want them to get back together, carry on with your icons, spams and squeeing. All this MUST continue until your chosen celeb starts another relationship. When this happens, begin this process all over again.
Step 11 is "die of old age"! :-O
It can't hurt to get a little perspective, can it?
