Rumor patrol: Elijah voicing Sigma in Red vs. Blue season 10

I keep seeing things on Tumblr and Twitter about this rumor. I didn't know what Red vs. Blue was until today. Apparently it's a series of comic sci-fi videos put out by a company called Rooster Teeth productions, available online or on DVD. (Here's the Wikipedia entry on it.) Fans seem to be taking Elijah's involvement as gospel. The series has ties to the gaming industry, so it's not at all impossible that he is involved. But I can't find any confirmation that I would consider reliable. I did dig up this image, which was posted on the 4chan boards:

However, I checked Rooster Teeth's site, and I don't see anything that mentions Elijah. You'd think scoring voice work from someone as well known as Elijah would merit a mention in the "News" posts if it were true, right? So for now, this seems like something to file under "possibilities and rumors."

The video comes from a Q & A panel at some con ( PaxEast Boston ) that the maker of Red vs. Blue attended.

Here is the point in the panel where the creators revealed that Elijah Wood plays Sigma. It's immediately after they showed the clip I referred to above, at about 56:06 in the stream excerpt here (http://de.twitch.tv/pax/b/314131191) !

So it's true. It's the hottest news you can ever imagine, they revealed it only 5 hours ago !

LOL, I love that he is such a geek. Can't you just imagine every gamer guy in the world dreaming of doing some of the voice work Elijah gets to do? Thanks for this find!

So this may, once again, be a project he got involved in through a friend/acquaintance. From what I read on Twitter, fans of Red vs. Blue are quite positive about his involvement.

Very interesting! That accords with what I'm seeing. In fact, I'd go so far as to say I've seen almost no responses to Lij's involvement that I'd put lower than "unbridled fangirl/boy glee." The man's certainly earned his geek cred.

(Incidentally, I groove on this tag-team sleuthing thing. Three minds are much better than one!)
