This comment DOES remind me of an incident during TTT in the cinema. Sitting in front of me were a mother and daughter - the girl was about six, which was a bit young, I thought, for the violence. But, hey, not a squeak, or even a request to visit the loo.
At the end, where Frodo, all panting, and his bosom heaving most attractively is sitting on the floor, just before the Great Polemic (hate it) by Sam. Frodo looks up at Sam with teary eyes and pale face, and is about to say "I can't DO this any more, Sam!", and the little girl can stand it no longer...
"Please, please, Mummy - may I take him home?"
Loved it.
And HUGE thanks to buns for the lovely picc. Any pic of HIM, buns, any time! xxx
Oooooo! That is the MOST gorgeous story!! I will keep that one in my heart Issi. Thank you so much for sharing it. *hugs*
One thing I really detest about the movies (IF I allow myself to dwell on it rather than Frodo's beauty) is the transference of Frodo's spiritual intelligence over to Sam. In the book, to me anyway, Frodo was a spiritual leader. He displayed so much insight and wisdom, and all that was given over to Sam in the movies. Grrrr!
I do so agree with your thoughts in the second paragraph. Frodo was made far too wimpish! Apart from rather over-lengthy battle scenes when I think PJ indulged his passion for such stuff a little too much, that was my only criticism of those otherwise brilliant movies.
