Elijah to Cameo in "Christmas on Mars"

Christmas on Mars, the sci-fi Xmas epic written and directed by the Flaming Lips’ Wayne Coyne, will finally hit theaters next Spring on Earth. The film, which has been in various states of production for the last six years, stars Lips’ multi-instrumentalist Stephen Drozd as Major Syrtis, an astronaut who celebrates the first Christmas on the red planet after its been colonized. Modest Mouse’s Isaac Brock, Elijah Wood, and Entourage’s Adam Goldberg all appear in cameos.

I wonder how big a cameo he'll have. If it's as good as his five minutes in Paris, Je T'aime, I'll take it. Yes, I know that wasn't a cameo. *g*

Finally! The Flaming Lips have been talking about this for years. People on their message board were beginning to think it was a joke.

This movie looks really weird, from a few of the stills that I've seen. I've been interested in it partly because Steve Burns will have a small role in it. I wonder what kind of role Elijah will have? With The Flaming Lips, it'll be wild. :D

Thanks for the info. I was wondering whether this was for real also. . .

I've heard about it multiple times and I think it's listed on imdb or something. Ed asked about it fairly recently on the boxie about whether it will ever come out or whether it just hadn't been removed. No idea what his role will be, though.

How cool is that ! What do you think Elijah will do in his cameo??
Thanks so much Yeux!

It's great to see that it's finally coming to fruition. As far as the "cameo"...you won't be disappointed I'm sure. ;-) Thanks Yeux

Ha! I had pretty much decided that this thing would never see the dark of a theatre. Color me amazed.

Hurray! Something else to look forward to. I read about this ages ago, and thought it had been abandoned. Five minutes is good enough for me..(though longer would be nice, but i musn't be greedy ;)) Thank yeux!

I had this movie mentioned when I did an Elijah news search a few days ago.

http://clokeei-movie.blogspot.com/2007/09/christmas-movies_28.html

Quote : "Christmas on mars is a newer christmas movie, finished in 2005. This feature film by the band, the Flaming Lips, has been in production for over five years. It is rumored for release at some point in 2006. Christmas on Mars is written and directed by Flaming Lips frontman Wayne Coyne and featuring all of the band and many of their associates as actors. This includes songwriter and former host of Blue's Clues, Steve Burns, and Elijah Wood of Lord of the Rings. This film tells the story of Major Syrtis (The Flaming Lips' drummer Steven Drozd) during the first Christmas on a newly-colonized Mars. Coyne described the film as "Maybe Eraserhead or Dead Man crossed with fantasy and space aspects, like The Wizard of Oz and 2001: A Space Odyssey, except done without real actors or money, and set at Christmas-time."

I quickly checked whether it was on IMDB, and it was, so I thought, as it has been so long in the making, it's probably old news to all the Elijah fans out there.

It'll be interesting to hear about it when it'll finally HAVE come out !

Thanks for the news, Yeux !

Love,

- Karin.
