A few wee sightings at SXSW and one at a GB gig

I was picked up on a corner at around 7 p.m. by Candice and her boyfriend Walter. They took me to a restaurant, where Elijah Wood happened to walk by, going to the bathroom. http://ohyeahshedid.blogspot.com/2008/03/sxsw-2008-austin-tx.html

One of the most exciting line ups of the week, we got to see MGMT, Moby and Justice all in one place. The set up of the party was the best I saw all week and we took full advantage of the Jack Daniels Bar. It was the most "celebrity" filled party of the week. Perez Hilton was kind of a dick, Elijah Wood was an extremely nice person and Tom Morello was busy talking to the a lady friend but it was still cool to see him.

This one is from a LJ so no links. As GB were in Austin playing [not SXSW], this must be the gig in question I presume.

GOGOL BORDELLO WAS SO FUCKING AMAZING!!!!
- sexy sexy eugene hutz with no shirt
- buckets filled with drum sticks and high heels
- accordion sound check
- the coolest fucking old man ever
- hot girls with symbols and bass drums
- one of the girls standing on the bass drum being held in the air by the crowd
- interesting new job opportunities
- ...AND ELIJAH WOOD WAS THERE! it was kind of exciting..we didnt want to bother him....but it was fucking FRODO!

I wanted to go to this Gogol show so badly, but we couldn't stay in Austin that long (husband had to be back at work on Monday).

It seems like Elijah just didn't go to many music shows this time. The only sightings have been from the Playboy party and the Heloise shows (at least that I've read). I guess he was busy with official Simian business.

I don't think this girl knows much about GB from the way she described them so I doubt she is aware of his connection with the band. I thought he would be at the gig but I forgot in all the official SXSW stuff when it was.

That's not entirely true - during my daily researches, I read several half-sentences in people's blogs in the period before the BUST mag party, where he had been spotted at other bands' gigs. As the posters hadn't anything to report apart from that fact, I didn't post them here and I didn't even save them to my memories/bookmarks.

I'm glad he got to go to some other shows. I'm always curious to read about the shows he went to, in case we were at some of the same ones. Then I'd just kick myself for not seeing him in the crowd. :P

well Elijah's in Austin for SXSW, for Bust (for Simian) as far as I can tell. he would've been there regardless of whether GB were perfing there. it's a job. he's not just there for GB.

I know that he wasn't there just for the band. There are many GB gigs that Elijah doesn't attend, but with him already being in Austin, for work, then it was no wonder he turned up for this one..that's what i meant.

I love Frodo, i always will, but he's a character. Elijah was at the gig..not Frodo!
