Saura's Translations of Alex's Blog 12th & 13th February
Here are Saura's translations for the 12th & 13th February. Thank you so much Saura for continuing to give us these translations as you help us to get another perspective on Alex's meaning.
SPOILERS!!
Entry: 12th February
ANOMIMOUS.
Wow, the blog is lively!
Well. There's a man worried for Elijah: he says not to give details of the filming, and (or) what we do together, [for me to] only speak about work, because he thinks that there's certain danger on it. I think he's right (Calm down, he's not speaking about the people at the blog). Obviously I would never do something not by a long shot that would damage Mr. Wood, because Elijah is not only the most important [person] for me as the star of the movie; it's simply that for me he's one of the best persons I've ever met in my life. Yesterday, today, every day, he shows me his affection and his help that allows us go on. Without him, everything would be infinitely more complicated.
Today I've filmed all his shots at the end, and he hadn't uttered a moan (1), he didn't look tired at all, he acts with the same intensity the shot and the contra-shot, repeats when I ask him to and all the times I ask him to, he does exactly what I tell him and he doesn't forget anything, either he agrees or not, and the word he repeats more is 'OK'. You know what that means for me? It's life, it's knowing that I have a marble column where I can rest against to lift up the filming, it's trusting in the future, in the next weeks, it's nearly not fearing anything.
So I can assure to this anonymous to be calm because I would do the impossible to take care of my friend. I promise you.
Note from the translator:
(1.) "Utter a moan" --without complain. I could have translated it directly, but I found it cute.

IN THE CRYPT
Today we've filmed in a crypt wherein supposedly the roles get submerged for a triangle-dinner filled up with morbid discovering and buried passions. Cris, I say it again, made a fantastic work. I desired the restaurant existed for real. Leonor shined under the candlelight and Mr. Hurt gifted us one of his most excellent interpretations. Mr. Wood, as I've commented before, faultless in every way. I've filmed easy, trying not to make my life any more difficult, go to the essential. The faces.
I like doing it in the old fashion. I don't try to make circles with the camera around the table. I don't think it's time for that. Fixed shots. You have to hear the roles, be aware of where they look and how they look. I think I solved it with simpleness and that the scene is built up by the actors. I've finished at sharp, like a nail (1). Let's see tomorrow.
Tomorrow I film the Seldom Conference sequence. Four hundred extra, lots of shots and several pages of script.
May God take us confessed! (2)
Note from the translator:
(1.) "Finished at sharp, like a nail" –finished the filming [or whatever else] right in time. We say this a lot, and it goes altogether "at sharp like a nail". Yep. Nails are not really "sharp" here either, but *shrugs*
(2.) "May God take us confessed" –It's common here to think that if die without having confessed all your sins (and therefore having being absolved by the priest in the name of God) you go directly to hell. This expression is like a pray: that if you die suddenly your last confession (to a priest) might be good enough for God not to send you to hell. We use it a lot, too, whenever we are afraid of the results of something.

It's half past five… I've woken up at five to work, I needed half an hour to read the blog… Small and strong, I love you, I need you… Please Eowyn, Ana Carina, fall in love with Small and Strong, with Colombo, go have dinner together… Please do it for me.
Note: Those people are the coolest of the blog (Along with Campanilla) --and they are the ones that increase the number of comments dramatically. Yesterday they were flirting like crazy. Poor Old Lady!!!

I love what Alex says about Elijah being one of the best people he's ever met... that's just what I have felt, too, when I've met him. He's just sweet and funny and genuine. It's so nice to read when others, especially other professionals who spend a lot of time with him, discover him to be the same sort of person he appears to be to me.
And I liked the bit about filming in the crypt. Sounds like a scene I will really enjoy once it's onscreen. Much thanks for the idiomatic translation of the last line. I had the words, but not a clear understanding of the meaning, until you posted this.
Yes, those blogges do keep things hopping! They're a lot of fun to read, and obviously Alex enjoys them, too.

It is so nice to feel included in the making of this film. The closest I will ever come to movie making. LOL.
Elijah seems to be well loved by almost everyone he meets, with the known exception it seems of some music person I can't for the life of me remember his name.
Hugs once again for the effort.

I love Alex, I really do, and not just because of his constant praise of Elijah.
Although... Mr. Wood, as I've commented before, faultless in every way. Awww, *melts*
Yet it's also him being so open, sharing everything that his on his mind...
so endearing!!
I can't wait to read his post about today- directing the 400 extra's (including quite a few of my lj friends...)! I hope both him and them had a good day!!
